Joe Beck interview

I am very pleased to let you all know that I had a phone interview this evening with Jazz Guitarist Joe Beck. For those who may not be familiar with Joe Beck, he was a seminal Jazz/Rock Guitarist during the late sixties and into the seventies, eighties, nineties, and on. He was the first electric guitarist to have recorded with Miles Davis, and he was also a founding member of the fusion movement. While the interview was short, we talked about his role as an influential guitarist and what he is up to now. I really enjoyed talking to Joe as I have been a big fan of his since the early seventies. He is now battling lung cancer and I pray that he comes out of this strong and healthy. Please pass on all the positive vibes you can his way.

I lived in New York for 3 years in the middle 70’s; Joe Beck was one of the many guitarists I was lucky enough to see. It seems he deserves much more recognition, but he was seemingly not the type of self-promoter that widely-known artists need to be. But there isn’t any style he could not play flawlessly.
