Pssst…Need A Guitar Transcription?
Dec 9th, 2007 by admin
Have you ever needed a solo transcribed but didn’t have the skills to do it yourself? Well, there’s a new guitar transcription service by M.D. Elliott. His pitch is that he’ll transcribe solos in a wide variety of styles and players for the beginner or for those who may not have the time to do it themselves for a “very affordable” fee. On his “Examples” page he lists a nice selection of Guitarists that he has already transcribed: Pat Martino, Wes Montgomery, Kenny Burrell and Emily Remler among the list. And there are two short examples of a Robben Ford tune and a Kenny Burrell tune. I would have liked to have seen at least one full transcription but that’s just me. As for his qualifications, well, he’s studied at Duquesne University for jazz performance while also studying privately with Joe Negri and the awesome Ken Karsh who Jazz Guitar Life had the pleasure of interviewing and reviewing. Just those two names gets my vote…:) Normally I would work on a solo until I got it down but in this case, depending on the cost and turn around time, I think a service like this could only benefit the beginning to intermediate student who may be struggling to learn their favorite player’s solos. Check out Elliott’s site and if you avail him of his services I’d love to hear how it goes.
Special thanks to Jazz Guitarist John Horne for pointing this site out on his blog.
