The Stryker/Slagle Band - February 5th to 10th
Feb 5th, 2008 by admin
If you are in New York City between the 5th and 10th of this month, be sure to make your way to Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola to check out Jazz Guitarist Dave Stryker and his band, co-led with Saxophonist Steve Slagle. Joining Stryker and Slagle will be Tenor player Joe Lovano with Jay Anderson and Victor Lewis holding down the bass and drum chairs respectively. If you have never seen Stryker play you are in for a most pleasant musical experience as he blends straight ahead playing with a generous nod towards the Blues. He has great technique and can play with the best of them, but more importantly, he is a melodious player who creates lines that are both tasteful and complex. Truly a players player. This is definitely a show not to be missed especially with Lovano and Slagle providing their brand of improvisation on the front lines as well. Jazz Guitar Life will have a full review of the show for all to read in the coming weeks. If you are going to the show, please feel free to drop a comment on what you thought of the show.
