A Couple of Cool Things…
Apr 13th, 2008 by admin
Hey all. Just a quick post to say that I came upon two interesting sites today that I enjoyed very much and thought I’d pass them along to y’all. The first one is a blog titled “Cahl’s Juke Joint: A Rock, Blues and Jazz Blog.” Cahl is definitely a fan of music and he’s got a bunch of posts related to Jazz Guitar. I enjoyed reading his thoughts on various guitarists which include Kenny Burrell and Jimmy Ponder amongst other recognizable players. If you got a moment give Cahl’s Blog a visit. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
The second cool thing I came across today was courtesy of “Larry’s Jazz Improvisation Page“, which is a DIGG like site that features news, anecdotes and some great gig humor from Jazz Vibe player Tony Miceli. The article pointed to the cool site The Smoking Gun and featured Kenny G’s contract rider for what he expects when he plays a gig. Hmmm, I would love to have his agent! It amazes me at times how important some people think they are. But then again, if I was a big star, maybe I’d expect the same treatment. I hope not but who knows.
And while you are at Larry’s Improvisation Page click on the “Contributors” link on your right. That link will take you to some awesome lesson material from the likes of Dave Stryker, Vic Juris, Tom Giacabetti, Pete McCann (check out his CD Review on Jazz Guitar Life), Mike Kennedy (check out his CD Review on Jazz Guitar Life) and many more players of improvised music. A great contribution to the art form we call Jazz.
Well there ya go. Hope your weekend went well and that your week is just as good. Later…
